Associate Professor of Geography, University of South Carolina

Dr. Hiscox is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography. She received her Ph.D. in Natural Resources from the University of Connecticut in 2006. She joined the University of South Carolina in 2010 after serving two years as an Assistant Professor of Environmental Sciences at Louisiana State University. April is a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Board on Atmospheric Biogeosciences and the AMS Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee on Agricultural and Forest Meteorology.

Dr. Hiscox's research interests are in boundary layer meterology with a specific focus on near surface dispersion and land air interactions. She uses a variety of field instrumentation to take measurements of near surface atmospheric phenomena. She is a lidar specialist, using this unique form of remote sensing to track aerosol plumes from a variety of sources including dust, smoke and pesticide sprays.
