Research Fellow, The University of Melbourne

Ashleigh Haw is a Research Fellow in Sociology in the University of Melbourne’s School of Social and Political Sciences and an Honorary Fellow at the Melbourne Social Equity Institute. Her research examines societal and mediated constructed of politics and crises – largely in the context of race and migration in liberal, western democracies – with emphasis on the implications for belonging, identity, human rights and policy.

PhD in Sociology at the University of Western Australia - Research focus: Audience responses to news discourses concerning people seeking asylum in Australia, and the implications for advocacy and policy (awarded: 13 May 2019).
