Aya Hussein Farhat

Aya Farhat is a PhD student in the Department of Communication at the University of Maryland. Aya studies rhetoric and politics, specifically the rhetoric of motherhood and citizenship in US abortion law.

A double graduate of Baylor University, Aya earned her BA in 2016 and her Master’s in Communication in 2018. At Baylor, Aya was awarded a Graduate Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Rhetorical Studies where she gained experience teaching Rhetoric and Feminist Criticism in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core. She has served as an Editorial Intern for Rhetoric and Public Affairs and has a forthcoming book chapter in the edited volume Yoga and Culture.
