Belinda Hewitt is a Professor in Sociology in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Broadly her research interests are in gender and the causes and consequences of the family life course and transitions for individuals. She is currently on a Future Fellowship examining the links between the family life course such as relationship formation and dissolution, birth of children, work and time pressure for the health and wellbeing of family members. This project also includes examining the family life course and Indigenous health and wellbeing. Her other projects examine the impact of motherhood on women's health, particularly for working mothers.
