Lecturer in Law, University of Liverpool

Ben was appointed as a Lecturer in Law in September 2016. He was previously a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Liverpool, where he is currently completing his Ph.D. thesis, entitled: ‘Accountability of the United Nations Security Council under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter’. He completed his undergraduate degree in Politics with French at Loughborough University and holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Liverpool.

Ben specialises in public international law. Research projects to date have focused on the law and politics of international institutions (in particular the United Nations Security Council and Human Rights Council), business and human rights, and the use of force in international law. Ben serves as regional coordinator for the Middle East for the Digest of State Practice contained within the Journal on the Use of Force in International Law.
