Bernard Baertschi

Université de Genève et Comité d'éthique, Inserm

I graduated from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and obtained my doctoral degree in Philosophy at the University of Geneva in 1979. After having taught in a secondary school during some years, I rejoined the Department of philosophy at the University of Geneva, and then the Medical faculty.

I am now retired.

I am a member of Inserm Ethics Committee (France).

I was visiting scholar at several universities in Switzerland and France (Grenoble). My doctoral dissertation was dedicated to a French philosopher from the post-enlightenment, Maine de Biran, but I was soon interested in moral philosophy and bioethics, the topics that were at the center of my teaching and of my researches since then.
