Bernie Tiddeman

Reader in Computer Science, Aberystwyth University

Bernie Tiddeman is a Reader in the Computer Science at Aberystwyth University, where he was head of the Computer Science department from 2013-2018. His research is in computer vision and graphics, with projects including: applications of computer vision in plant and marine biology, including multi view 3D reconstruction of plants for automated analysis and measurement of crabs and lobsters on board fishing boats; applications in digital heritage, including an augmented reality app for Bryn Celli Ddu neolithic burial mound; texture analysis of faces, for skin health analysis; heart-rate estimation from video data; evolution and adaptation of artificial neural networks for vision problems in robotics; drone based crowd estimation for disaster relief support; automated analysis of noise complaints; and unsupervised medical image registration. His teaching has included modules on computer graphics, algorithms and data structures, software lifecycle and technology entrepreneurship.
