PhD Candidate, Monash University

Bodean Hedwards completed her undergraduate studies at Deakin University in 2011. In 2012, Bodean started her PhD at Monash University looking at the criminalisation of border crossings and control in the zone between the Chinese Tibetan Autonomous Region, Nepal and India.

Her research aims to explore and document how the contest between human rights and border control practices impact Tibetan women differently (particularly Buddhist nuns) at one of the world’s most contentious and secretive international borders.
