Bongani Mayosi is the Dean and Professor of Medicine at the Faculty of Health Science at the University of Cape Town. He conducts research on the causes, treatment and prevetion of poverty-related heart diseases including pricardial tuberculosis, rheumatic heart disease and the cardiomyopathies. Mayosi is the President of the Pan-African Society of Cardiology.
