I am a scholar of the history of Christian thought, and secularity and secularism. I am currently Co-Chair of the Secularism and Secularity group at the AAR. My monograph "The Sacrality of the Secular" appeared from Columbia U. Press in 2018. I am currently working on a mass-market book on the history of the soulmate myth. My scholarship has appeared in JAAR, Sophia, Religions, and several edited volumes. My public work has appeared at HuffPost, Religion Dispatches, Religion & Politics (forthcoming) and LARB (forthcoming).
