Researcher in the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Group, University of Cape Town

Britta has worked at the interface of technological innovation and social development in international cooperation for German International Cooperation (GIZ) in Recife, Brazil, in 2006 and 2007. After her return to Germany, she worked as a researcher at one of Europe’s leading think tanks on international development, the German Development Institute (DIE) in Bonn for four years. Besides her research on sustainable development and innovation, she advised the German and South African governments on linking mitigation efforts and technological innovation in their bilateral cooperation.

Birtta is a senior fellow at the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI). Her ACDI research focuses on climate change mitigation and poverty reduction.
