Associate Professor, University of the Western Cape

After my PhD, I worked as a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow. Then I built up the Universe Awareness programme, a programme designed to stimulate young children's development with the inspirational aspects of astronomy. After that I came to South Africa as an SKA research fellow. Then I was Director of Academic Development at the Next Einstein Initiative. Then I had my first child, and started working in the private sector. I was Chief Scientist in a South African FinTech start-up, thumbzup, for 5 years. In 2018, I joined the University of the Western Cape as Associate Professor and as Associate Director, Development and Outreach of the Inter-University Institute for Data Intensive Astronomy.
