Chris Barker

I have held positions at Harvard University, Boston College, Ohio University, and Southwestern College. My first book, Educating Liberty: Democracy and Aristocracy in JS Mill's Political Thought, was published by the University of Rochester Press in 2018. My research has appeared in Contemporary Political Theory, Public Affairs Quarterly, the Review of Politics, History of European Ideas, American Political Thought, and other scholarly outlets. My outreach writing has appeared in Foreign Affairs, Aeon Magazine, The Week, The Public Seminar, University Affairs, and other outlets.
