I'm a historian of Atlantic slavery. My next book, "Slavery’s Long Goodbye: Capitalism, Nationalism, and Christianity in the Age of British Emancipation", will be published by Liverpool University Press.

I'm also interested in the history of light and the growth of luminosity in the eighteenth century. That means I read a lot about whaling.
