Christine Feldman-Barrett

Senior Lecturer in Cultural Sociology, Griffith University

I am a cultural sociologist and historian who focuses on the intersections of popular music, youth culture and gender. My first book is 'We Are the Mods': A Transnational History of a Youth Subculture (Peter Lang, 2009), which examines the movement of Mod from its native Britain to Germany, the United States and Japan. Alongside journal articles and book chapters on youth culture history, my most recent book, A Women's History of the Beatles (Bloomsbury, 2021) is the first full-length publication to examine the various roles of women within the Beatles history.
