Dr Christopher J. Fuller is Lecturer in Modern US History at the University of Southampton. He has just completed a research project exploring the evolution of US counterterrorism policy, in particular the role played by unmanned drones. His book, See It/Shoot It: The Secret History of the CIA's Lethal Drone Program is due for publication with Yale University Press in late 2016/early 2017.
His new research project explores the concept of the United States as a post-territorial empire, and the role played by technology in enabling this. The project has a particular focus upon the rebellion - or resistance - which occurs along the contested fault lines which serve as the unmanned frontiers of this empire, be they borders with rogue states, terrorist safe havens, or even encounters in space and cyber space.
