Senior Lecturer, Clinical and Communication Skills, Deakin University

Claire McKie is a Consultant Geriatrician at Barwon Health, Geelong, Victoria and a Senior Lecturer in Clinical and Communication Skills in the School of Medicine at Deakin University. Clinically she is involved in the acute and perioperative care of older patients.
She is actively involved in medical education in both the undergraduate and postgraduate settings, with an interest in communication skills teaching. Her current role at Deakin University focuses on the design, development and delivery of the communication curriculum. Her postgraduate teaching occurs through the Victorian Geriatric Medicine Training Program and through Barwon Health’s iValidate programme (a clinical communication training programme focusing on shared decision-making for patients with life limiting illnesses).
