My current research focuses on quantifying spatial and temporal patterns in the emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants, and evaluating the impacts of these emissions on climate change, urban policy, and human health. I integrate satellite remote sensing data of atmospheric carbon dioxide and aerosol concentrations into coupled land-atmosphere models to validate and evaluate emissions inventory products. Quantifying carbon emissions and transport at high spatial and temporal resolutions is critical to our ability to monitor and verify changes in emissions over time, disentangle the contributions of biogenic and anthropogenic fluxes, and support policies to mitigate climate change.
