Cynthia Mitchell

Professor of Sustainability, Institute for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology Sydney

Professor Cynthia Mitchell has a national and international reputation for her transdisciplinary work for economic, environmental, and social sustainability in the water and wastewater sector, with a particular focus on the planning, governance, and management of distributed infrastructure and water and nutrient recycling systems.

In 2012, she was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, as well as being appointed as a Member of the NSW Independent Water Advisory Panel, reporting directly to the Minister for Water about the Sydney Metropolitan Water Plan and the Lower Hunter Water Plan.

Cynthia has 19 years of experience in improving the sustainability of the urban environment, with a particular focus on water and built form.
