Daniel Ooi

Daniel Ooi is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation, and in the School of Social Sciences and Psychology, at Victoria University. His work focuses on the social and political dimensions of water policy and water users in Australia, and draws on a multi-disciplinary mix of sociology, psychology, and anthropology. He has worked on a project, led by the University of New South Wales and funded by the Australian Water Recycling Centre of Excellence, examining social and psychological barriers to the use of purified recycled water. He has also been part of a project involving researchers at Deakin University, Victoria University, and Murdoch University examining the public response to desalination in Australia. In the past he has been involved in research examining cultural programs and national identity in Sandinista Nicaragua, and his current work focuses on social inclusion and participatory democracy in urban planning in both Australia and developing countries.
