Lecturer in Musicology, University of Huddersfield

I am a lecturer at the University of Huddersfield where I teach on film music theory, screen studies, pop music studies and aspects of music, gender and identity. My PhD looked at music and worldbuilding in fantasy film franchises post-2001, and my research includes work on the Hollywood film industry, as well as drawing on musical and audiovisual analysis, fandom studies, transmediality and theories of media consumption in the digital age.

Before gaining my PhD I trained as a saxophonist at the Royal Northern College of Music, and alongside teaching and research I also work as a music facilitator in schools for children with special educational needs and in care homes for those living with dementia.
