Associate Professor (adjunct) in Creative Writing, Flinders University

My academic background is in zoology (DPhil) and psychology (BAHons) but I have been in interdisciplinary researcher and writer for most of my career with a wide-ranging academic and popular publication record. My publications range across the life sciences including conservation biology, bushfire safety, drug abuse, aged care, laterality, history of science, biography, French voyages, killer whales and Australian palaeontology. I am currently a research associate in Creative Writing at Flinders and in Zoology at Melbourne University and have published thirteen narrative non-fiction books, which have won the Victorian Premiers Award for Nonfiction, Whitley Awards, Australian Federation of Writer's Award for Excellence in Nonfiction and been shortlisted for the National Biography Award, Adelaide Festival Literary Awards, the Text Prize and the Children's Book Council of Australia.
