Daphne Hernandez

Assistant Professor of Nutrition & Obesity Studies, University of Houston

Daphne Hernandez oversees an interdisciplinary research program that focuses on family-related factors, such as poverty and family structure, and their influence on food insecurity/food assistance program participation and obesity. She also focuses on stress, social support, depression, and cardiovascular health.

Her target populations are socio-economically disadvantaged groups with a specific emphasis on racial and ethnic minorities, women, and children. Her interdisciplinary focus has provided her with the opportunity to make significant contributions to various disciplines, including child development, family and public health.
