David A Guba, Jr.

History Faculty, Bard Early College Baltimore

I am currently a faculty member in the history department at Bard Early College Baltimore, where I've taught for 3 years. I completed my PhD at Temple University in May of 2018, and my research examines the colonial history of cannabis in 18th and 19th century France. I have a forthcoming book on the subject due out on McGill-Queen's University Press in the spring of 2020, entitled "Taming Cannabis: Drugs and Empire in 19th century France." I also am contributing editor for POINTS: The Blog of the Alcohol and Drugs History Society, where I write monthly blog posts on drugs in France, past and present. I am also a Books Review editor with Social History of Alcohol and Drugs: An International Journal (SHAD). Please see my website for a sampling of these and other publications, including several peer-reviewed articles: www.djguba.com
