David R. Gallagher is the Managing Director of an investment research and data analytics firm, Co-Lead of the Super CRC bid at the RoZetta Institute Limited, and Professor of Finance at Bond University.
He is a former Chief Executive Officer of the $41 Million Centre of Excellence in International Finance and Regulation (CIFR). CIFR operated from 2011-2016 and was funded by the Commonwealth Government of Australia, the New South Wales Government, and a consortium of six universities. The Centre also worked closely with Australia's cornerstone financial regulators.
Dr Gallagher's other prior academic roles included professorial appointments at UNSW Business School, UTS, Macquarie University's Graduate School of Management (MGSM), The University of Queensland, and a visiting appointment at The University of Texas at Austin, in the United States.
In 2002 Dr Gallagher graduated from The University of Sydney with a Ph.D. in Financial Economics, and prior to this had a professional career as a Financial Analyst at Towers Perrin Inc., an actuarial and investment consulting firm (now known as Willis Towers Watson).
His research interests and expertise are in the fields of investment management, institutional investors, financial regulation, superannuation and capital markets.
He has published several opinion pieces in a variety of financial media and has appeared on television and radio as a commentator. He has consulted widely to industry and Government, and has served as an expert witness on legal matters.
