Deborah Morrison

Professor of Advertising, University of Oregon

Deborah Morrison is the Carolyn Silva Chambers Distinguished Professor of Advertising and director of the School of Journalism and Communication’s advertising program, where she teaches conceptual and strategic thinking, creativity and content, portfolio classes, and Oregon’s Creative Strategist course. She believes strong university programs should uphold the promise of developing intellect and talent for the idea industry and help build strong, responsible brands through compelling creative work. Her creative scholarship focuses on creativity and, in these times, how the creative industry harnesses creativity to solve wicked problems of climate and environmental change. Morrison's speaking engagements include SXSW, HOW design conference, New York's Creative Week, and Malmö Creative Powers of Europe. She served on the One Club Board of Directors in New York City for two terms and named a Grandmaster of the international Art Director's Club, as well as serving on juries for those professional award shows.
