Dianna Theadora Kenny

Professor of Psychology, Professor of Music (rtd), University of Sydney

Dianna T. Kenny, PhD, MA (Sch Couns), BA (Hons) PGDip FDR, ATCL, DipEd, MAPsS, MAPA, is an academic, author, clinician, consultant psychologist and researcher. She served The University of Sydney, Australia for 31 years as Professor of Psychology and Professor of Music, and was the founding director of the Australian Centre for Applied Research in Music Performance, Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She remains affiliated with the university as a Council member of The University of Sydney Association of Professors in which capacity she and her professorial colleagues endeavour to reclaim the university for academics.
Dianna is the author of over 300 publications, including 11 books, e.g.,
-Young offenders on community orders: Health, welfare and criminogenic needs (Sydney University Press, 2008) (with Paul Nelson),
-The psychology of music performance anxiety (Oxford University Press, 2011)
-Bringing up baby: The psychoanalytic infant comes of age (Karnac, 2013)
-From Id to intersubjectivity: Talking about the talking cure with master clinicians (Karnac, 2014)
-God, Freud and religion: The origin of fear, faith and fundamentalism (Routledge, 2015)
-Children, sexuality, and child sexual abuse (Routledge, 2018)
-Gender dysphoria in children and young people: Collected papers on the psychology, sociology and ethics of gender transition (Scholars Press, 2020).
