Visiting Professor in Civil Engineering, Edinburgh Napier University

Having graduated in civil engineering in 1979, I have spent my career mainly with consulting engineers, specialising in geotechnical and ground engineering. I have worked internationally on a number of projects but mainly in the UK. In the last 13 years I have worked with Donaldson and part of this work has included dealing with emergency repairs to earthworks (rail and road embankments and cuttings) and landslides. More recently I have been involved in tunnelling projects, both new-build and repair, in Hong Kong, Panama, Scotland and London (Crossrail).

I have been a visiting lecturer and part of Napier University IPAC for the last five years. I have had similar roles at Glasgow and Strathclyde universities in the past.
