Dr Sherene Smith

PhD (Corporate Governance and Stakeholder Engagement), RMIT University

I am a career accountant and a specialist in Tax and Forensic Accounting who transitioned into in the field of Corporate Governance and Risk Management. I am a trained academic that teaches a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the disciplines of management and accounting . My PhD thesis explored corporate governance issues in Australia from a sociological perspective and primarily evaluates board recruitment systems and practices, examining how institutional factors influence the usefulness of boards. I am an Academic and Industry Assessor in Risk Management and have served on multiple public sector boards.
