Postdoctoral researcher, The University of Queensland

I am an interdisciplinary theorist, working in physics and sustainable energy research. My research interests include the biophysics of photosynthesis, open quantum systems, complex systems and sociophysics.

More broadly, I am interested in all aspects of sustainable energy development, from the technical details of mechanisms at the nanoscale to broader economic, social, ecological and climate issues.

In 2013 I received my PhD in physics, for a thesis entitled Multiscale Analysis and Optimisation of Photosynthetic Solar Energy Systems.

As an undergraduate at UQ, I studied physics, mathematics, psychology and philosophy, focusing on foundational questions of reality and consciousness. I then completed honours in theoretical physics, writing a thesis focused on quantum foundations; specifically, the role of time in standard and nonstandard formulations of quantum mechanics and quantum gravity.
