Ekatherina Zhukova

I am a postdoctoral researcher in Gender Studies at Lund University in Sweden studying unexpected results of humanitarian projects. My case study is the Chernobyl nuclear disaster (1986) and I am looking at how humanitarian programmes organised for the Chernobyl children from Belarus by the Italian charities since 1990s contributed to fostering personal relations between children and participating host families. I received my PhD in Political Science from Aarhus University in Denmark. I compared media representations of responsibility for managing the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Belarus and Ukraine since 1990s.
