Eleanor Dormontt

Postdoctoral Researcher in Timber Forensics, University of Adelaide

Dr Eleanor Dormontt has a PhD in plant population genetics and currently heads up the new laboratories of the Advanced DNA Identification and Forensic Facility at the University of Adelaide. Eleanor’s work focuses on developing DNA identification methods for timber to support law enforcement efforts to curb illegal timber trading and provide compliance tools for legitimate traders. She has recently completed a two year stint as a consultant for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, where she developed the recently published Best Practice Guide for Forensic Timber Identification.
