Senior Lecturer in Tourism and International Development, Leeds Beckett University

Elisa's current research interests focus on responsible tourism, volunteer tourism and on the nexus between tourism and international development at the School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management at Leeds Beckett University.

She has completed degrees in Modern Languages at the University of Pisa, Italy (2004); an international MA in Tourism Management, Nuoro, Italy (2007); and a PhD entitled "Residents Perceptions of Volunteer Tourism in Cusco, Peru" at Leeds Beckett University (2012). In 2013 she worked on the EPSRC funded project 'Urban Retrofit 2020-2050' at the Centre for Sustainable Urban and Regional Futures (SURF), at the University of Salford. The focus of her research was the exploration of sustainability and urban social movements framed within neoliberal urban contexts.

During her studies and afterwards, Elisa lectured on undergraduate and postgraduate modules on tourism and sustainability, tourism and development, responsible tourism and research methods.
