Elise Boyle Espinosa

PhD Candidate, University of Aberdeen

PhD candidate at the Centre for Citizenship, Civil Society, and Rule of Law at the University of Aberdeen. Funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation programme, I'm researching the education system of Islamic State in Iraq, and the broader implications their control had on education in the region. This reflects a broader interest in the role of ideology in social and political change, and builds on past research on the education system established as part of the ‘Rojava Revolution’ in North and East Syria.
