Research assistant professor, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

Ella Hafermalz is an Assistant Professor at the KIN Centre for Digital Innovation at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. Her research focuses on how new technologies are being integrated in the workplace and how networked communications are informing reconfigurations of work and understandings of the "office".

Ella's PhD research looked at remote and flexible working practices in Australia from the remote worker's perspective. She found that remote workers often go to considerable efforts to stay connected and to get noticed in their organisation, improvising with a range of technologies to do so.
