Chairman of The Other Canon Foundation, Norway, a small foundation dedicated to studying the economy as a real object, not defined in terms of the adoption of core assumptions and techniques. From this experience-based angle, economic development is an intrinsically uneven process and frequently requires policy interventions. Reinert's 2007 book 'How rich countries got rich... and why poor countries stay poor' has been translated into about 19 languages, and was in 2016 nominated by the World Economics Association to the list of 50 books from which the 10 most important economics books of the last 100 years were to be selected. He has working experience as a businessman and economic consultant from more than 60 countries.
