Estelle Trengove

Associate professor in electrical engineering, University of the Witwatersrand

I am an associate professor and a registered professional engineer in the School of Electrical & Information Engineering at Wits University. My research interests are lightning and lightning safety; I am also interested in user perceptions of their own energy needs and energy efficiency strategies. I completed a BA in 1979 and a BSc Eng (Elec) in 1990. I worked in industry for 7 years with a firm of consulting electrical engineers. I was appointed as a lecturer in 1991 in the School of Electrical & Information Engineering, obtaining an MSc Eng (Elec) in 2001 and a PhD in 2012. The PhD looked at the role that people's misconceptions and beliefs play in lightning safety.
