Dr. Felix Limbani, is a Researcher with Centre for Health Policy and Project Manager for Nkateko Trial. He has over ten years of managing public health and research programmes. Recently Dr. Limbani obtained a PhD on a thesis entitled: A realist evaluation of a clinic based Lay Health Worker intervention to improve the management of Hypertension in rural South Africa

Dr. Limbani studied whether certain tasks can be shifted from qualified nurses to clinic based Lay Health Workers. Primary Health Care clinics in South Africa are overwhelmed with increasing numbers of patients with chronic diseases and also face a shortage of nurses. With a functional health system, Dr Limbani’s research has shown that Lay Health Workers can be effective in improving management of Chronic Diseases and patient outcomes. The study was conducted in a health and demographic surveillance site (HDSS) run by the Agincourt MRC/Wits Public Health and Health Transitions Research Unit based in Bushbuckridge sub-district of Mpumalanga province, north-east South Africa
