Fiona R. Greenland

Trained as a Roman archaeologist and comparative-historical sociologist, my research addresses a number of related issues including the formation and transformation of archaeological knowledge, the historical causes and contemporary consequences of the global trade in antiquities, cultural policy in state formation processes, and the interplay between political power, economic organization, and state-level management of cultural heritage resources. I am investigating these issues by developing a methodology that combines concepts and analytical tools from sociology, archaeology, law, public policy, and economics.
