Fraser Grace

Fraser Grace is a Cambridge-based writer and dramatist. His first play was joint-winner of the Verity Bargate award, and his best known stageplay, Breakfast with Mugabe, was produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Swan Theatre, Stratford, winning the John Whiting best play award when it transferred to the West End. It was subsequently broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and on the World Service prior to revivals in both the UK and the USA, where it was nominated for best play in the Off-Broadway Theater awards 2014.
In 2016 Fraser was back at Stratford with Always Orange – a play about terrorism, security, and the closure of local libraries – which helped to re-launch the RSC’s The Other Place.

In addition to many other plays for the stage (all published by Oberon Books), Fraser has adapted Andrea Porter’s heartbreaking poetry collection Bubble into a radio drama, and his own short story sequence Wrestling Angels, both for broadcast on BBC Radio 4. He also has a keen interest in music theatre, penning a libretto for Andrew Lovett’s comic opera Don’t Breathe a Word, about British ambassador Craig Murray’s struggle to expose human rights abuses in Uzbekistan — despite Foreign Office opposition (allegedly).
