At Northeastern, my research areas include: Impact of disruptive technology on the public policy process; cybersecurity; privacy; risk management; regulatory compliance; governance

Until September 2014, I was a Gartner Fellow at Gartner, Inc, and authored or co-authored over 400 research notes there since 1999. In 2002 in partnership with the US Naval War College and the White House, I led the first-ever cyber wargame called Digital Pearl Harbor.

I am now the Chief Evangelist at software firm MetricStream which produces software for risk management and regulatory compliance.

I am also a retired US Navy submarine officer.
