Gary Paul Baker

Post-Doctoral Researcher in History, University of East Anglia

Having completed a PhD in History in 2012, my research interests are medieval and early modern military and maritime history c.1300-1600.

I am currently employed at UEA and the University of Groningen working with Professor Claire Jowitt on a new 14-volume critical edition of Richard Hakluyt’s The Principal Navigations (1598–1600) for Oxford University Press (www.hakluyt.org).

I previously worked at the University of Southampton on an AHRC-funded research project: ''The Evolution of English Shipping Capacity and Shipboard Communities from the Late Middle Ages to Drake's Circumnavigation' (http://medievalandtudorships.org/).
