Associate Professor (Honorary), University of Newcastle

Dr Gillian Arrighi is Honorary Associate Professor in Drama at the University of Newcastle. Her published research is in the fields of Circus Studies, Childhood Studies (on child actors), Australian Theatre History, and Performance Pedagogy. Her teaching portfolio spans Australian theatre and policy, acting practice and theory, devising new work, and histories of theatre and performance. She is the author/editor of 5 books, including the recent Cambridge Companion to the Circus (2021), the monograph The FitzGerald Brothers' Circus (2015), and many refereed journal articles and book chapters. She is in the final stages of a book about child actors in New York, London, and Australasia.
