Marine toxins produced by dinoflagellates are structurally diverse and include polyethers, macrolides and alkaloids. These toxins can accumulate in the flesh of filter feeders, and then affect fish, marine mammals, birds and humans. Our research mainly focuses on elucidating the genetic mechanisms via which these toxins are produced by dinoflagellates.
