Hagos Abrha Abay

Dr Hagos Abrha Abay is a Ge'ez philologist who had served as an Ass. professor at Mekelle University (Tigray, Ethiopia); he was the founder and director of St Yared Center for Ethiopian Philology and Manuscript Studies (Mekelle University). He did his postdoctoral research at the University of Hamburg, Center for the Study of Manuscript Culture (CSMC), under 'Cluster of Excellence'. Currently he is working at the University of Toronto an Associate Researcher at the Department of Historical and Cultural Studies, and teaches linguistics at the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilization. He is the founder of both Mahlete Gumaye (cultural initiatives in Tigray and Gumaye Foundation.
