Heather Alexander

Associate Professor, Portfolio Leader (Program and Teaching Quality), Griffith University

Associate Professor Alexander is the Portfolio Leader, Program and Teaching Quality at Learning Futures, Griffith University, focusing on the renewal of Griffith degree programs and the quality of teaching practices. She has a long experience in the Higher Education sector. She was awarded a Fellowship by the former Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) in 2007 to undertake a project that developed a model for interprofessional learning for nursing and medical students while in the clinical setting. Prior to her current appointment, she was mostly involved in medical education, working previously at two medical schools and a subsequent appointment at the Australian Medical Council. She has particular expertise in assessment and is currently Chair of the Griffith University Assessment Committee. She has many publications, is a reviewer for several journals, is an Ozreader for the Australian Research Council, and a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Board of Education. She was recently a member of the project team for the completed ALTC/OLT project “A sector-wide model for assuring final year subject and program achievement standards through inter-university moderation”.
