PhD Researcher in Autism, Family and Communication, Northumbria University, Newcastle

22 years as lecturer/manager in visual arts in the post 16 and adult further education sector. My experience in this dynamic and creative environment offered a wonderful insight into student capacity and creativity.

One of my sons was diagnosed with autism in 2009; a catalyst to my MA (Autism) at Northumbria University.

My current PhD explores the lived experience of working within and between families to enable inclusive communication in families where a child has autism. Acknowledging the principles of Particpatory Action Research the study aims to include not only the participation of parents but also of the children with autism and their siblings.
