Research Fellow in Child Development and Education, Coventry University

Helen Breadmore is a Research Fellow in Child Development and Education at the Centre for Advances in Behavioural Science, Coventry University. She has a PhD and MRes in Psychology from the University of Birmingham, and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Warwick.

Her research is about the relationship between literacy, speech and hearing. Children who have difficulty hearing or producing the sounds of spoken language often have difficulty learning to read. Reading and spelling are complex tasks which require children to combine lots of different skills. The research examines the strengths that are most closely related to good literacy, and the weaknesses that are most likely to lead to difficulties.
