Associate Professor, Centre for Academic Development, University of Auckland, Waipapa Taumata Rau

I coordinate the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and work with academic staff from across the disciplines on a variety of teaching and research initiatives. I also maintain strong links to my home discipline of literary studies. In 2007 my colleague Michele Leggott and I received a University of Auckland Teaching Excellence Award for Poetry off the Page, an innovative undergraduate English course that we developed and teach collaboratively.

Trained as a literary scholar, I hold a PhD in Comparative Literature from Princeton University and taught for 10 years at Indiana University, where I was an Associate Professor of English and a member of Indiana's state-wide Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching. I have published widely in a range of academic fields including modernist poetry, tertiary pedagogy, educational development, academic writing and digital poetics.
