Director and Research Professor in the Social Research Center of the American University in Cairo. Also, serving on different councils in Egypt, including the Social, Humanity and Population Science Council, the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.

Also resource person and consultant to a number of regional and international organizations. Currently: Member of the Scientific Committee for the 8th Global Conference on Health Promotion, WHO (2011-present). Member of the Advisory Group of the WHO Global Strategy for Health System Research (HSR) (2011 – present). Member of the Regional External Advisory Panel for UNFPA Arab States Regional Office(2009 - Present). Member of the Task Force of WHO flagship report on the Health of the People of Africa.(2009 - Present).
